S-Adenosyl-Methionin (SAMe) ist eine natürlich vorkommende Substanz und als Methylgruppen-Donator für den Stoffwechsel von Bedeutung. Das Aminosäurederivat wird aus ATP (Adenosin-triphosphat) und der essentiellen Aminosäure Methionin unter Abspaltung von Pyrophosphat und Phosphat gebildet. SAMe ist in Nahrungsmitteln nur sehr reduziert enthalten, anders als dessen Vorstufe Methionin, aus der es im Körper gebildet wird. Für die endogene Synthese von S-Adenosyl-Methionin sind die Vitamine B12 und Folsäure notwendig. Pure Encapsulations® SAMe (S-Adenosyl-Methionin) wurde über eine innovative Galenik verkapselt - sogenannte „DRcaps®“ schützen den sensiblen Inhaltsstoff vor der Magensäure.
